Join Anthony T.P. Brooks and the Luzerne County Historical Society for a trip a France to explore Luzerne County's heritage with presentations featuring our namesake, the Chevalier de la Luzerne as well as Wilkes-Barre painter George Caitlin's time in Paris with King Louis Philippe and of course, our 109th Infantry Regiment which landed in Normandy D-Day +44 and was honored at the liberation parade in Paris in August 1944.
In addition to Paris and Normandy's poignant landing beaches, the river cruise highlights guided tours of Monet's Giverny, Napoleon and Josephine's country estate, the city of Rouen with its half-timbered, glazed-tile houses and a "Taste of Normandy" option for those who wish to explore more of the region. This tour will delight history buffs, lovers of France and European art and culture as well as food and wine enthusiasts.
